The Fog Cutter is a very fun beverage. We can’t call this a gin exclusive cocktail, but we felt that it was too good for this time of year to not add into our gin series. The botanical qualities of the gin play off of the rum and brandy perfectly. The brandy adds some nice depth and the rum gives the drink some natural sweetness and extra flavor. We went with a white rum but we really think you can’t go wrong with a good dark one either. Don’t limit yourself to the constraints of what we’ve done! The Fog Cutter is a fantastic spring cocktail that has a refreshingly complex nature.

RECIPE

Fog Cutter


Ready in 5 minutes

Serves 1 drink


Ingredients

  • ¾ oz Gin
  • ¾ oz Brandy
  • ¾ oz Rum(light or dark)
  • 2 oz Orange Juice
  • ¾ oz Lemon Juice
  • ½ oz Blueberry Lemon Shrub
  • ½ oz Orgeat
  • Sherry Float(≈ 1 Tbsp)

Preparation

  1. Place all ingredients except for Sherry into a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake until the contents are very cold.
  3. Strain into your drinking glass over fresh ice.
  4. Add a float of Sherry by pouring some over the back of a bar spoon. 
  5. Take a sip of the blessed beverage and let yourself be taken away to your happy places.
