Another week of bitter cold so why not continue our hot beverage specials. Mulled Wine is one of those drinks that you just want to sip on in front of the fire. It’s like comfort in a cup. Warm and rich with flavor we added a little bit of our Blueberry Lemon Shrub into the mix for one heck of a winter(or cold fall day) special. It’ll warm up your very soul, we promise.
We recommend a middle of the road wine, nothing too expensive as you’ll just be doctoring it up. We went with a full bodied Merlot but you could use anything that’s not too soft and can stand up to all of the additional flavors being added in.
The recipe below is really more of a suggestion. We followed what you see to the “T” but feel free to have a little fun with it. Add in some other spices or citrus! We won’t tell anyone, and heck, you may even find something amazing that needs to be shared with us! We’d love to hear how your Mulled Wine turned out and if you made any changes. Comment below!
The main thing I have to stress for making Mulled Wine is for the love of god don’t boil your wine!! The key to this turning out well(and still containing any alcohol) is to gently heat it the whole way through.
