I came across the recipe for this one in The Craft of the Cocktail by Dale Degroff, and once I saw it I knew it was something that I needed to play with. This is by far one of the strangest Shrubbies we’ve ever made. The Ramos Fizz has a super unique play on flavors that comes together in a beautiful combination. Creamy up front immediately followed by a little slap, or friendly pat, to your tongue of citrus. You could almost call this a key lime pie in a glass.
While this cocktail has more simple syrup in it out of any other drink we’ve made to date, it doesn’t “taste” overly sweet. This drink is nicely balanced with a great mouth feel to boot. The development of flavors happens over time and may take a few sips to fall in love with it.
This is a great drink for before or after dinner, in the morning, or for a midafternoon pick me-up!
