Raspberry Claret Lemonade

Raspberry Claret Lemonade

November 26, 2020

As with all classic cocktails the Claret Lemonade has gone through some adaptations throughout time. In the simplest explanation possible this cocktail is lemonade using wine instead of water. The origins can be traced back to Harry Johnson in 1898. I love this drink because the wine plays so well with the sweet and acidic ingredients.

I took the route of layering this cocktail, by taking everything except the wine and shaking it until chilled and then floating the wine on top of that. I left the shrubbie like this because it’s beautiful and I love getting little flavor additions with each sip that slowly become stronger as you progress through the drink. That may just be because I’m a weirdo, you can certainly shake or stir everything together for a more uniform experience. That’s certainly how the Claret Lemonade is traditionally made. As with any drink it’s up to you! Play around and have a good time with it and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
