The Tequila Sunrise is a beautiful cocktail. I found that the addition of our Raspberry Coriander shrub added even more visual beauty. It blurred the lines between orange and deep red, creating an even more sunset esque beverage.
Being that this is a fairly fruit forward cocktail the addition of the Raspberry Coriander shrub really helped to balance that out, adding a bit of complexity to a very simple and straightforward drink.
Grenadine is a pomegranate fairly simple syrup, nowadays the store bought stuff doesn’t contain a single drop of real pomegranate and is closer to a cherry flavor. It’s packed with so many unnecessary ingredients that a store bought bottle will probably out last me! So what are your alternatives you ask? Buy some POM juice, add a little sugar, boil in a saute pan(more surface area means more evaporation) for 5-7 minutes, pull off the heat, add a few drops of lemon or orange blossom water, and voila! Delicious, amazing, versatile, homemade grenadine! It stores in the fridge for about a month too. Now that’s not too shabby.
Plus some other cocktails that call for grenadine are: Shirley Temple; The Hurricane; Singapore Sling; and Sex on the Beach just to name a few. So what’s the harm in making some grenadine and then playing with some awesome summery cocktails?!

This is a very “juicy” shrubbie and normally a topper of sparkling water isn’t called for in a Tequila Sunrise, but it was too sweet for us without the water addition. If you don’t mind a nice boozy juice then hold off on the water. As always it’s up to personal preference.
